Meet Kyle Shold
We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyle Shold a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kyle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
In some way I had always been interested in the creative arts. Stemming primarily from movies and film scores for movies with ‘Star Wars’ being a major early influence. I loved early behind-the-scenes documentaries detailing the artists and creatives involved in bringing these big films to life. And, of course, there was drawing.
Beyond Your Imagination
When I think about people who love movies, my friend and today’s guest Kyle Shold instantly comes to mind. An illustrator by trade, who created the fantastic poster for this podcast, he uses his passion for film and storytelling tools—from cinematography to scores—to influence his work. In this conversation, we cover a lot of ground, from his first cinematic memory that sparked his imagination to the score that fuels his creativity. We also talk about how movies shift through time, the differences between physical and streaming media, and why quality and control are crucial elements in curating your film library.

Shadow Ninja, hero of the nondescript metro city Couve City, clashes with the Eastern Ale Clan after its kingpin reveals it had exclusive rights to the word “ninja.” Vancouver artist Kyle Shold wrote and illustrated the comic.“
